Day after day
The journey of the lost soul
Filled with empty promises
It all takes a toll
His mind won’t accept
Always picking apart the other
Turning every positive negative
Blames it on his mother
The one who abandoned him as a child
The one the brought on the disease
A disease that hinders his heart
Stopping his soul from being at ease
Many have tried to crack the wall
That is placed to protect his last bit of hope
Impenetrable to all who have tried
This is the only way he knows how to cope
Trying to heal the wounds
Understanding the reasoning why
Fearing the hurt of losing again
Trying to build up the courage to try
Happiness is all around him
As he is watching from his post
Being with but not partaking
He is losing his mind the most
His greatest asset and his worst enemy
His mind is relentless in its way
Overprotecting his spirit
Never letting his heart stray
For love in his world doesn’t exist
The heart doesn’t open
For it is locked behind years of hurt
Loneliness is his fortune
In constant search of the key
The hope to lose the lock
Only fuels the frustration
Along his life’s lonely walk

A powerful poem that speaks to the issue of closed doors that remand that way because of the inability to find the missing key. Well written. Keep writing.
