In The Church Poem by RIC BASTASA

In The Church

the mother sits beside
the daughter as the sermon
of the priests goes on
for an hour or more

the father at the other end
beside a woman with a white face
closes his eyes
dreaming for the moon cohabiting
with the brighter stars
