In The Evening Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

In The Evening

Rating: 5.0

in the evening
when the sun is down
to stay a while at the horizon
when the birds
rush to their nests to
to take rest till coming of dawn

in the evening
when darkness comes
slowly from the lonely dales
when stars appear
one by one to shine in
their walk leave glowing trails

in the evening
when cattle walk down
the streets to doze in the sheds
when old men
chantprayers in temples
as they lower down their heads

in the evening
when nubile lasses go
to the pond with pots for water
a soft wind comes
to move across the lands
to talk with night in a whisper
