In The Grip Of Life Poem by Allen Steble The Philosophical Poet

In The Grip Of Life

We're all either living for something, or dying for something, sometimes both.
You can live for hope, for change
You can live to preserve what is good,
Or preserve what is right.
You can live for beauty, to see or hold it.
You can live for wisdom, and insight.
You can live for positive emotions,
Joy, pleasure, satisfaction, contentment.
But you can just as easily die for them.
For all of them, one by one or all at once.
You die a little everyday, if not in spirit and mind,
Then quite possibly in flesh, so it goes.
You can die in the grip of life, even living well.
But you can't live, even a little in death
