In The Quiet Hours Of The Twilight Of My Life Poem by Mohammad Younus

In The Quiet Hours Of The Twilight Of My Life

In the quiet hours of the twilight of my life,
When I am in transit to life after this life,
Leaving this vast, expansive, time and space behind,
I ask of you, my dear Lord, in gentle, whispered plea,
Will you forever let me remember You?
Will you forever let me hear,
Your salutations of peace?
In the Quran, as You say:
'And Peace! will be their greeting,
From the Merciful Lord! '
I have devoted to you, my dear Lord,
The precious moments of my life,
Through joy and sorrow,
My soul and heart have remained inclined,
And connected to you;
Through perpetual remembrance,
I ask of you, my dear Lord, to set me free!
I promise forever to remember You!

When time marches on, and seasons change,
Let my love for you not fall dim and grow old;
In the corners of my heart, let it be only You,
Whose absolute reality forever do I glorify,

For this world's journey is brief,
And moments fleet,
I love to make a humble plea to you:
Let my soul's journey be complete!
Let my soul recognise that you are alone,
The real source of my life!
How can I perish when my reality is the spirit,
That you have blown into me?
So, in the echoes of eternity's sea,
I pray you'll whisper softly:
'Come to me! ' 'I am your reality! '
