In The Shadow Poem by Jodie Hardy

In The Shadow

Rating: 5.0

Full moon rises over the glimmering ocean blue,
Out shining all the stars, brightening the sky anew.
From here on the surf tormented shore a carpet of white leads me to the horizon.
Where on tiptoes and with outstretched arms I could touch the sky,
How I long to take one of the many beautiful stars and hold it to my heart.
One step taken through the brutally wild and bitterly cold waves,
All my sense long since left as I take long strides out to sea.
Over schools of fish and reefs so sharp that tickle my legs and cut my feet.
When submerged and still carrying on following the white light full of dreams.
My last breath of life abandons me as I feel my soul rise and join the stars and there I stay in the shadow of the moon I was longing to touch.
If you look closely on a moonless night once your eyes adjust to the darkness just after dusk you will see me weeping.
