In The Shadow Of Yesterday Poem by Dennis Go

In The Shadow Of Yesterday

If you words tell the truth in me;
I'd like to listen, but I'll never believe.
For now I'll be far someplace else
Miles and miles lost with my pride to retrieve.

Tongue withheld, mouth will be sealed.
No word will be heard from me.
My heart's shattered permanently
For the truth's been ignored constantly.

In either way I leave
May it hurt you or enlighten you;
Someday you'll finally realize
The sincere desire of my company
Though time may separate us endlessly.

Maybe I'll see someone
Another figure in the sparkle of your eye.
When that time comes I'll be much stronger
Though the color of my heart turns pale.

Time may permit the feelings to return.
But all's useless now,
Living forever in the shadow of yesterday.
