In this world, that darkly drops off
Days of promise have their limits!
And the broadest of life-experience
To a grave's cramped worth submits!
In this world, that so condemns both
Whom do good as well evil
Could this yet be its saving grace!
That what, on the one hand
In the free giver is curtailed
Is, too, the thievish demand!
