In Waters Deep Poem by C Richard Miles

In Waters Deep

In waters deep I shall strike out and strongly swim
While he looks out for me upon the cliff-top steep.
Can I escape his thrall and get away from him
In waters deep?

Persistent, he will always watch and grimly keep
His eye on me, and so my fading hopes are slim
Of ever reaching where blithe flying fishes leap.

And soon my strength shall fade, and sight grow dim,
Till seas shall claim my rest and I shall soundly sleep
Surrounded by the soothing ocean’s mystic hymn
In waters deep.
