In Wish Realms We Had Rather Dwelt

in wish realms we had rather dwelt
when we were children
in school they could not
spell it out of us
confine us to corners
that we might more practical be
we all resisted in our own ways
and found the great wars played out
in the Fairy Tales and no mistake.
and all our glittering liberty, Heaven waked.
looking back, how happy we are that we did
not get shamed out of cherishing the Beautiful
that God Himself led us to know
through perhaps no wind, and fire and quake
but in small star flecked nudges
no matter what their spiel
the magic of Him is real.
