Indian Summers How To Beat It? Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Indian Summers How To Beat It?

Indian summers
How to beat it?
Take you salad
With sliced cucumber, onion,
Green chilly, a pinch of salt and lemon squeeze
And tomato,
Take you water melon,
Lassi,
Sherbet,
Nimbu-paani, a glass of water with sugar and lemon squueze,
Take you dahi, earthen-bowl kept dahi, I mean curd
And move you to shady orchards
To have the noonday dreams
Sleeping on a rope-woven baboo cot,
Away from the sweating siesta of the congested mud house
And even though stay you in, sleepyou on a date-leaf-made mat
Sprinkling water drops on it,
Go for a diver into the shady and rocky water bodies
Of the woody tract.
