Infatuation Held Me Captive Poem by Debora Soramaki

Infatuation Held Me Captive

How could such a being
Hold me captive all those years
I saw but wasn't seeing
The life that brought me tears
This one-sided heart of mine
Didn't even stand a chance
Take a number, wait in line
What a sorry circumstance
Wasting time on empty dreams
Wanting love that will not be
Nothing is what it seems
Being held in captivity.
