Insecure Poem by Ziyanda KUBONI

Insecure

Tiny eyes
Where all my insecurity lies
Oops! I think I gained a little weight
An image I scowl with hate
Moving awkwardly pulling on my dress
Nursing my distress
As pairs of eyes follow my shadow
Their minds so shallow
Something they have nursed from the breast of society
They have adorned me with anxiety
As fingers point out my flaws
Injecting self-loath through their contaminated claws
I am insecure
Looking for a cure
I should be proud of this masterpiece I see in the mirror
Instead they have taken my pride and gave me a seizure
Now all I have are jumbled up thoughts
That breed distraught
I am insecure
Looking for a cure.
