Into the grit
Of chagrin and of hate and envy
And harm all unified
I put my face and bold
I faced the chill that came
The frost that settled on my hands
And skin like dread bacteria:
But to Mass I went; there I felt
Peace coming into my heart
That I had not had so long before.
And now I need it more than more
And more than ever needed it before.
Let us see what harm there be in store
The New Year just begins; at least
We the onslaught survived of the last Year.
