Into The Night Poem by Kiri Xiong

Soundly sleeping, I could look at your face all night.
Even though they're closed, I could see your eyes.
They're beautiful. Brightly blue, slightly brown and green.
Blue like the waves that rule the ocean
Brown, like the life underneath the dirt
And as green as pure jade.
Your hair, emulating that of a mane
Running my fingers through, I can feel your every thought and dream
But I still want to know more.
With every breath, your chest moves.
I lay my head on it and you let me.
You wake to kiss my forehead and fall right back.
I laugh at this sight.
Slowly, you turn over to hug your pain away so I hug your back.
I hear the beating drum inside you and its muse couldn't be smoother.
Then I remember the songs you sing
And immediately I am, too, at ease.
Finally, we both are asleep.
Seemingly seeping into the night
