Into The Setting Sun Poem by Andrew Matthews

Into The Setting Sun

I used to pray that I would just die
I still do sometimes.
I wouldn't have minded to just
go in my sleep.
I didn't really care how I went....
It's pretty selfish though
When you think of all the people worse off
People who are disabled, people who
have kids to care for who get Cancer
and can't be there for them.
People who would be glad to have the life I have.
We have got it miles better in Britain than a lot of
the people in the world even though we don't always know it.
That is why it is selfish.

But we can't help how we feel sometimes....
I think there is only 1 or 2 reasons why I am still here.
1. My Family need me and I need them and I'd hate for them to be unhappy and suffer needlessly, I would rather suffer.

2. Hope keeps appearing on the horizon, like a donkey chasing a carrot, I keep going, day by day, into the setting sun.
