Invisible Ink Poem by Casey Renee Kiser / snail viXen

Invisible Ink

'Soul mate', he said
And I melted into my feet

I never dreamed
that word would find me
I always thought
someone made it up
out of pure cruelty

I was always a stray
who followed them home
and got to be held a while,
conditional convenience

I never dreamed
I would be embraced
by such elegant arms

'Soul mate', he said
And the sky would never be the same

I was always invisible ink
Now I show up on paper
wet and shiny, bold and meaningful,
unconditional definition

I deserve to be in a Love poem
I deserve to be in Love
I DESERVE LOVE

'Soul mate', he said
And all the mirrors winked at me
