Isolation Poem by Joseph Tanner

Isolation

Prison
Lockdown,
Watching from my escape,
Cars hum and purr as they glide by,
I'm sure all for essential needs!
Observing the peace in the air,
Wildlife prosper and thrive,
Gulls sounding their distaste in the sky.
Watching as people walk on by aimlessly with no purpose,
Flaunting their no regard for others.
Anger bellows within me,
Trapped in this isolation,
As this virus has me locked in a prison of my own.
Awaiting day release,
Visitation day the only respite behind a screen from afar.
We've come a long way,
From whiskey and rum,
And an apple a day,
That keeps the doctor away.
Finding freedom,
Beyond the dancing dress of Marilyn Monroe,
Inviting me in from the escape,
A long way from home Toto.
