Isolation Poem by Alexander Shaumyan

Isolation

I'm isolated from my family and friends,
The Bible thumpers at the Authors Den
And global warming zealots on the left
Who justify state tyranny and theft.

I'm isolated and I think it's best
To have a view that differs from the rest--
For truth is still out there if you look
Beyond all saviors and the holy books.

But truth escapes the clutches of the drunk,
Who cannot tell an elephant from its trunk,
Who claim a woman is a state of mind--
For truth is like an eyesight for the blind.

Sometimes the trick is just to be alone,
For in the end, your journey is your own,
And should a kindred soul cross your path,
Be thankful that it's not some psychopath.
