Will peace win its veneration?
Will Israel truly and fully revive
the serenity it promises
for itself and for Gaza in its
width and span of promises?
Will the two nations breathe
the fresh air of tranquility finally?
Or will the remnants of anger
make dents in their consensus?
No greatness is greater than
empathy and compassion for humanity;
no reality is smaller than lost peace
that takes many sacrifices and losses
that have to be forgotten from its jeopardy;
for life is still life in those hearts that beat
for future is still ahead in those eyes
that search for the tomorrows to
wake up and pray
and be grateful for being alive;
as in surviving the devastation of war,
the blessing of freedom becomes
a mere necessity
as no home stands to shelter
that has been scattered in debris;
no friend wants to recall friendships
as so many have perished
and grief is all over and asunder,
as those bombs kept falling like rainfalls,
explosions kept occurring like thunder
life got lost as fast as lightening;
and no family could sleep
without fears and tears of dying.
Yet time will keep pushing and carrying
those memories away
like the water in the river that keeps
moving in any direction
to follow a path of venturing ahead;
and though time will make
the mind so hard to forget the war
and its devastation,
a new dawn will usher
a ray of hope when peace will revive
and compensate their grief
and help them to regain
what is lost and adjust to
what cannot be
changed or forgotten.
