Love one another
as I have loved you
- he said to his people;
that was Jesus Christ
who preached in Israel;
he was born in Bethlehem
lived there but was crucified
outside the city walls of Jerusalem;
today as war rages
no cross to hold on to
no nails to hit thro the skin
but directly the bullets,
the bombs, the explosions
eliminate people like dust;
life lost, homes lost
and no love remains
as across the borders
vengeance in its furor
as fury and wrath prevails.
Where is mercy
where is humanity?
children crying
families running,
let truce surface now;
so walk those lanes slowly
watch the destruction
watch the mutilation
watch the injuries
watch the burials;
then walk with compassion
walk with Christ in memory
walk with his words echoing-
love one another
as I have loved you;
walk with words of Constitution-
Right to Life- universal human right:
everyone has a right to live;
so let everyone live
and not just die in a war;
so let there be a cease -fire
let life go on
let them not perish
let them breathe
war is ruthless
peace is self-worthy.
