Israel-Hamas War - Show Mercy On Southern Gaza Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Israel-Hamas War - Show Mercy On Southern Gaza

What will I do sitting here and watching
a war like yours where people are constantly
running from constant bombs and bullets?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the children getting injured while their
parents are either dead or wounded?
what will I do sitting here and watching
so many women running with their children,
so helplessly and anguished?
what will I do sitting here and watching
so many families feeling
so hungry and so homeless?
what will I do sitting here and watching
doctors in hospitals struggling round the clock
to take care of the injured and the wounded?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the world leaders turning a blind eye
to the fate of those who are facing the war
for days and months without any pity?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the mercilessness and the cruelty that is
devastating the people and their country?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the tears and screams of those who fear
and run for their lives
as soldiers keep firing bullets at them?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the bombs exploding on those buildings
crashing them and killing innocent people
even before they know it?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the sadness and the persisting gloom
as one nation has no empathy nor sympathy
to curb its violence and atrocities against another?
what will I do sitting here and watching
so many people getting killed every day,
every hour when life is so valuable
and one lives it only just once on this planet?
what will I do sitting here and watching
the sun go down and the moon rising
yet no compassion nor any humanity is dawning
as people keep struggling to survive?
what will I do sitting here and watching
when my own tears are cascading
and my heart feels so heavy to see the plight
of those who face the war and its butchery?
