Israel's Breach Of Contract With God. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Israel's Breach Of Contract With God.

A special group, a task so grand,
Not better folks in all the land.
God picked some friends, a family line,
To show the world a light divine.

Like Abraham, and Isaac too,
And Jacob's sons, a chosen few.
A promise made, a path to tread,
To live by words that God had said.

To be a lamp for others near,
To make God's truth crystal clear.
He'd be with them, through thick and thin,
A blessing for the world to win.

Not by their might, or strength they bore,
But love's own choice, and nothing more.
A faithful heart, a love so deep,
The promises God chose to keep.

For Jews, this means to do God's will,
To live by law, and be quite still,
To hold God's truth, a sacred trust,
Not thinking others turn to dust.

For Christians too, the story grows,
From Jewish roots, the Savior rose.
And now, through faith in Jesus' name,
All hearts can join this holy flame.

A spiritual band, a wider fold,
God's chosen story to be told.
Not for their works, but grace's art,
A special place within God's heart.
