It Is Not What You Do Lffor Yourself Poem by Francis Duggan

It Is Not What You Do Lffor Yourself

It is not what you do for yourself but what for others you do
That others will take time for to remember you
Look at the life of the late Mother Therese in her lifetime many her did admire
For to work on behalf of the poor others she did inspire
She devoted her life to helping those in dire poverty
This holy woman of kindness and compassion and empathy
Her own needs in public she never did promote
In the service of the poor her lifetime she did devote
With many in the twenty first century self promotion is the in thing
And their own praises in public they do like to sing
Their three favorite topics are me, myself and I
And they will only live for the self until the day they do die
In the field of good example Mother Therese led the way
And the Human World is in need of more like her today.
