It Is Only A Hobby Poem by Francis Duggan

I have been writing rhyme for forty five years or so
But if i was depending on this to eat of hunger i would be dead years ago
As writers rhymers are never to the literary fore
It is only a hobby and little else more

It was my love of rhyme made a rhymer of me
I wrote my first rhymes in nineteen seventy three
Back in the days when my hair was dark brown
When i was twenty seven west of Millstreet Town

It is easy to write rhyme as easy as can be
Anybody can do it you can have this from me
Mouse rhymes with louse and bee rhymes with tree
And when you add one and two it always equals three

For many years i have been a rhyming buff
Just one who has written many pages of stuff
My better days may be in the forever gone
But for as long as i can do i will keep on rhyming on.
