It Is Sad To Realize Poem by Francis Duggan

It is sad to realize so very sad indeed
That the Earth that does feed us is being destroyed by human greed
Of our own extinction we are planting the seed
Of many more environmentally friendly people humanity is in need

More old growth trees in the name of progress every day are being cut down
To make room for more factories in the ever expanding concrete town
Due to the destruction of their natural habitat and human induced climate change
More wildlife species facing extinction due to a smaller liveable range

The progress of humanity has come at a very big cost
So many species to human greed have already been lost
Even many animals and birds nowadays I do see
Will not be around in less than a century

In the World today too many of the not environmentally aware
Mother Earth is for us to live on and with other creatures to share
The natural environment is under attack from human greed
Of more environmentally friendly people the Earth is in need.
