It Is Time - Poem by Sage Baker

Contemplation of participation = a passive nation

Boredom and dishonesty
Mistrust and complacency
Leading to total inefficiency
And ultimate mediocrity

Accepted passivity

Ego driven thinking
Emotionally based reacting

Lack of ambition
With no clear mission

Waiting not driving
Accepting not striving

Regu lated

Lack of accountability
With no personal reliability

No motivation
Or collaboration
Only indignation

Schools teach our kids to conform
When they should teach them to confront

We have become global consumers
And true world polluters

Political carelessness
With a need for social awareness

D ecided action

Time for a change and direction
Time for awareness and affection

Time for leadership
And entrepreneurship

Time for community
And responsibility

Time for ultimate personal accountability

A successful interdependence

Time to stick it to the man
And put up your hand
And say 'I can'
And 'I will'
'Because I can no longer sit still'
