It Kills Me Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

It Kills Me

Reaching out to you
Trying to convince you to stay
why can't you forget what was done?
You were so angry at me that you've turned away
How'd we go wrong. is this what we've become?
Your silence is the shooting arrow piercing through to my heart
I care and you can tell this much, when you look in my eyes
darling, I can't read your mind and
I won't pretend like we're just fine
One of my greatest fears presents itself to me
And this challenge i'm not yet willing to face
It only took for one mistake
Losing you is too much for me to take
having made an emotional connection, you've had my heart and tender affection
I'd glow as bright as the sun, smiling from cheek to cheek, enthralled by each word you speak and i'd allow you inside my heart
you were the only one
who had me feel, something so real
and it was mines for the taking
things will now never be the same
I can't make you love me
Doesn't matter how hard I try
you've already made up your mind
it's killing me inside
but i must pick up the pieces and move along with my life
