It's A Party (Lyrics) Poem by Leah Ayliffe

It's A Party (Lyrics)

Rating: 5.0

New Years Eve
It's time to play
Girls spend their hours
With their make up, mirrors and laughter.
It's time to begin again
As though nothing mattered
Booze and hidden desires
Come alive under streamers.

In their eyes I see dreams
Out the window I see the streets
Filled with masks of what may be
Filled with all that is temporary

It's a party, it's a party
Put on your best dress
It's a party, it's a party
Get ready for the let down.
‘Cause each lonely girl in the room
Has someone else they'd rather see.
He is somewhere else,
But you are right here, kiss me.

Silver and gold sparkle in the air
I like the feeling of hands
Resting on my hips there.
Whistles sound alarm
Ringing in a new year
What is it you would do differently honey?
Tell me your fear
While I've got you here.

In their eyes I see dreams
Out the window I see the streets
Filled with masks of what may be
Filled with all that is temporary

It's a party, it's a party
Put on your best dress
It's a party, it's a party
Get ready for the let down.
‘Cause each lonely girl in the room
Has someone else they'd rather see.
He is somewhere else,
But you are right here, kiss me.

A little doll ready to play
No matter how tired of the game
Lay me down, let's go insane
Let's get it on til New Years day.

It's a party, it's a party
Put on your best dress
It's a party, it's a party
Get ready for the let down.
‘Cause each lonely girl in the room
Has someone else they'd rather see.
He is somewhere else,
But you are right here, kiss me.

A beautiful song with great melody and beat that swings with the happiness and sadness that is all part of the party scene!

This beautiful, poignant song brought me to remember when I began to walk away from those kisses; they could no longer satisfy. 'The older we get, the farther we see, the more we mean to each other, the more she'd mean to me, ' from Fiachna Ó Braonáin.
