It's New Year Poem by Dr Anthony Onoja

It's New Year

It's autumn all the birds are singing in their nets
The night is cold and lonely
without the amorous birds of prey
His eyes were fixed to the lily pads
he is lost in her few lines of prose
Life they say is a page,
he yarn and wish for more
Love is far off the ganges,
as for Christmas he knew not where it goes
Home is far,
far off the cliffs in some remote island
Only in Tuscany you hear the bells ringing
Calling the new year from it's axis
A beginning of a new dawn
He wish for a touch
he wish for an autumn kiss
he wish for a togetherness amidst his plight
To what end will this path come to a blissful end?
Yesterday they say is gone
Long buried in Chambers of lower voltta
Then we must accept what the new year brings
We hope the decade ends our lonely plights of shame
