'Ites' Poem by Lone Dog

'Ites'

I love to search for minerals
Along a hidden way;
And look their names up in a book,
Although they're hard to say.

I often find celestite,
And hematite too;
Sphalerite and anthracite,
Just to name a few.
On lucky days it's albite
And azurite blue;
Andradite, wulfenite
And apatite too.
Lignite, biotite,
Bornite, malanite,
Sylvanite, siderite,
I'm just about through:
Dolomite, magnetite,
Tantalite, sodalite,
Argentite, pegmatite,
Stilbite, - whew! ! !

Although I love to look for rocks
Along a hidden way,
I wish they wouldn't make their names
So doggone hard to say!
