It's Okay Not To Be Okay Poem by Lauren Coles

It's Okay Not To Be Okay

It's okay not to be okay
You may be bullied in school,
You go to school and that's it,
You may think that your life is like a garage can,
You put on sad music on in your room,
People may be asking you questions,
You may be happy one day but not the next day,
Having cerebral palsy sucks but rain pours down your windows,
But my heart and soul is trying to beat to a different drum but I have some business to attend to and I can't do that from the grave,
The hardest thing is not being able to do anything that normal people do but I have been blessed,
It's hard to see though to see the bright side but writing is my life jacket,
It may seem like cerebral palsy is a curse that I might want to be taken away,
Words cannot be sallowed without being written down,
It's okay not to okay and it is like reading a book but first you have to give it a chance,
Professionals are paid to listen but if their heart was so broken they wouldn't be doing it.
I hear my grandpa's spirit speak to me,
I'll be able to walk around somewhere in time,
The table will be empty with no laughter,
I can't bless people who don't have anything,
Several times I have been thinking that this would be my last story,
It is a riveting tale that I don't think anyone should feel,
You can keep it quiet for a while,
Stories cannot talk but they will be alive even when you are not.
