Jack Broe Poem by Francis Duggan

Jack Broe

Jack Broe hoped his marriage vows with Kate his wife
Would be a love contract that would last for life
But his love of her than her love of him far more strong
And sadly for him thought had proved him wrong

I am going back in time more than a few years ago
Between them they brought into life a son Joe
Who now is near manhood he will soon be eighteen
It has been many years since Jack his son has seen

Jack will remember until he dies the evening he came home early from work and found Kate in bed
With his former friend and neighbour and one he trusted Ted
Jack a non violent person was quite shocked at what he see
Shortly after this he and Kate did part company

She and Ted and young Joe are living far away
In the State of Oklahoma in the U S of A
And Jack in his late thirties is single today
And for as long as he live this is how he will stay

That love can have it's sorrows and disappointments only true to say
And grief at love's ending can be the price to pay
Jack Broe'sformer best friend is now the husband of Kate his ex wife
Not all things does go to plan in love and life.
