January Night Poem by Nika McGuin

January Night

Rating: 2.8

Cold blanket, cold legs, cold feet
I just cant seem to trap any heat
I'd fain get up and turn on the heater
But of turning it off, roomie is a repeat offender

So I shiver, quiver, and wiggle my toes
Begin to hold my sock monkey even more close
Then as last, the sandman doth visit
Aye, its still cold, but asleep I shan't feel it

It's finally Spring! The day was so lovely with the shining sun, a cool breeze, and a concert of birds in nearby fruit trees. I took a new volume of Italian Renaissance poetry out to my patio and read blissfully for two hours +. A woman who takes care of the flowers and gardens on the apartment grounds stopped by twice to chat. She's a personal friend of Mother Nature and has not one, but TWO green thumbs. So tonight when I saw this WINTER POEM listed, I felt nostalgic, read it, laughed and then returned to the delights of spring.
