John Celes Poem by Francis Duggan

John Celes

One of the best if not the best for years
John Celes is the king of sonneteers
His sonnets to them have a pleasant ring
The gift of words is such a splendid thing.

That brain of his it just keeps ticking on
And few as great as the good Dr John
He has the true skills of the wordsmith trade
Good poets are born good poets cannot be made.

To his great gift of poesy he is true
And credit the man since credit he is due
The beauty of his words with you remain
And you read his verses over and again.

His verses are like a breath of fresh air
And few if any with him to compare
His fame has spread distant from India's shore
And far distant from his home in Coimbatore.

A credit to his Nation and his Race
In Literature he commands a high place
A splendid Wordsmith one worthy of note
John Celes he is such a marvellous poet.
