Johnnie Cremin Poem by Francis Duggan

Johnnie Cremin

By the hills of Kippagh and Caherbarnagh he did not stay
He had lived in Aughavish in the County of Leitrim for many a day
Far north of Millstreet in Duhallow his first home countryside
The likeable and knowledgeable fellow Johnnie Cremin died
Though his was not to be considered as a great name
He was one of those people who deserved a greater fame
For he was quite knowledgeable and in the ways of life wise
As those who knew or knew of him would come to realize
He left the countryside by Ballydaly many decades ago
But eventually time too did become his foe
In him Duhallow's loss became Leitrim's gain
And in those who knew or knew of him good memories of him will remain
Like the migratory bird he died far from his homeground
But hisashes in his home-place is to be spread around..
