Journey Home Poem by Midifo Yearns

Journey Home

Homeward bound to seek the wounded child
make music that opens people’s hearts
it cannot be that passion will be mild
for anger pangs that rage like piercing darts
must find their flight, and grope in clutches wild.

The tune’s within and each his tone must find
while beating at a drum or crying out aloud
for all the hurt and anger can only make one blind
and tease the heart, destroy the proud
and leave one bleeding, dying to be kind.

That kindness moves within, as music softly plays
from inner space, that turns and yearns to love
reach to touch, to clutch to self, a harmony that stays
and then take flight and break away like dove
that opens wings in wide embrace, and prays.
