June 30,2003 - Poem by Nancy Vorkink
I never thought it would come to this.
That he wasn’t there for me,
However, sweet and dear.
He wasn’t there for me.
I have fallen in love,
And felt deeper feelings than ever.
He had no spine to call or email
Saying he didn’t know what to say.
Meaning he didn’t know what to feel.
Except probably I love you when all else fails.
Getting in touch with his real feelings
Is hard, he’s been cut off for so long.
I don’t know if he can regain the truth
And the strength to go forward.
He has lost a lot of ground.
He has lost her, his wife
Just recently. He still loves her.
The dog was hers. Now she is dead.
And he is lost.
Or is it me? Just feeling let down.
Disappointed. Frustrated with his loving.
Having a platonic friendship is best
Perhaps, but we can’t do that.
It’s too late.
We were in too much of a rush
In February; now it’s June.
Summertime and sad.
