Is life really “just a bowl of cherries”?
Let’s consider all that’s not so merry

War in Afghanistan and Iraq
Two very not so merry facts

Economies on the downhill path
Un-merrily bringing on our wrath

Environmental problems mostly ignored
We can’t envision what our planet has in store

Hunger and starvation in far off places
Leaders who lie to us with straight faces

Price of gas, right through the ceiling
Transportation on foot, not too appealing

When with all these concerns I try to grapple
I’ve concluded, Life’s just a bowl of rotten apples
