Just A Piece Of Metal..? Poem by Albin R Sam

Just A Piece Of Metal..?

They come home and leave with few smiles,
Because they know, they might not return all the miles.
The brave soldiers who die a thousand times,
But never dream of being remembered in hymns.

If freedom was a product, they pay the cost,
But their legacy is forever lost.
Be it flaming hot or be it freezing cold
You will always find a soldier; sharp and behold.

The medals on the chest,
Tell us that they never rest.
It may look like a petal, made of metal,
But it has a lot of stories that never settle.

Bronze, silver or gold? It's a symbol of might,
Reflecting the heart beneath; beating for the right.
Every medal has stories untold,
Of honesty, of bravery, some young and some old.

Let the medals shine, let their stories spread,
Let our brave soldiers live in hearts even being dead.
Their sacrifice is something we can never repay,
But we can do one thing; honour them everyday.
