Just Another Day Poem by Fergal Dunne

Just Another Day

She opened her eyes,
It was just another day.
Another day to face the pain.
It was cold.
She was lonely.
A little soup,
Warm inside but no smiles outside.
Papers crumpled beneath her feet.
She fingered back the curtain,
Out there was just a nightmare.
Sacred heart looked down.
She sat back,
Her will was gone.
'Take me' she mumbled.
She closed her eyes,
The ticking clock filled the room.
She opened them.
It was still another day.
