When I bring a boy home
I wanna see my mama smile
hear my sister say he's cute
and let there be peace for awhile

just once...

when I let that boy meet my guyfriend
i want to hear my friend say
'you break her heart, i'll break your face'
and hint he should treat me a certain way

just once...

I want a father unlike mine
who cares about his daughter's life
and makes the boy go away
after the pain of his lies

just once...

i want to know what its like
to be loved with no limits
just for me and no one else
I want to feel like i belong...

just once...
