Justice And Violence Poem by Paul Hartal

Justice And Violence

I believe that justice and violence
are incompatible companions.
For, bloodshed cannot cure discrimination,
and carnage does not heal suffering.

I also believe that wise people
are not warmongers
and warmongers are not wise.

Unfortunately though
our past and present have been filled
with wars and conflicts.
Through the rolling centuries of history,
many fools managed to lead
mankind from one tragedy to another.

So let's beware of political agendas
spiced with camouflaged euphemisms.
Let's call a spade a spade
and remember: You shall not kill!

Let the spectre of Armageddon
vanish forever in shameful exile.

Let's grow in the Garden of Earth
flowers of peace and harmony.
People of all races and nations,
let's unite in mutual respect
and love.
