Kalat Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Kalat

Kalat

In only, hour, two
Death number of COVID
In US, America
Will become six digits…

And I think of Kalat
City of Nader Shah.

There, myth, and history
Have place, coexist.

In times sad but is fact…

For me, child of Iran
From the ancient town
(Isfahan, Sepahan…)
Particles of the dust
Speak of people gone.

The same is for Kalat,
That I did read about
When, in Tajikistan.

Sit and think of US,
Watch the time progress.

This will be history
Amusing stories.

Some talk of Indians
Dakota and Mohawk.

All, by then, are extinct,
Vanished and diminished,
And Russia and Spain,
Bonaparte and the sale,
And US expansion…

Some mention the COVID
Pandemic's misery,
But what and who will see?
