Katasteryear 'Loss & Gain Under The Rain' - Poem by M.J.E. Edmiston

12 Months, One Summer Ago, Has Been The Hardest Year Ive Ever Met.
I Faced 2 Deaths In One Months Time.
My Parents Headed East For Home.
But My Homes The West Coast.
Where Westin, Will Never Rest Alone.
Where My Brother And I Survive On Our Own, Living One Day At A Time, Headed For The Unknown.
Side By Side, Never One Step Behind, Wherever We Go.
We Share The Same Story About Year 2009,
One Summer Ago.

My Papa Lost To Cancer,
But He Lived A Full Life That Most Don't Get The Chance Ta.
I'm O.K. Dealing With Death In that Manner.

But The Death Of My Best Friend,
Is Too Hard To Comprehend That I'll Never See Him Again.
To Be Convinced That Things Are Meant
And He Was Sent To Heaven.

I Lost Alot More Than I Could Face.
I Lost Faith.
Gained Pain.
Gained Hate For 'Destiny & Fate'

I Feel Like This Emptyness I'm Left With
Is From How Lonely It Is,
Without My Parents And Westin,
Here Today.

Because Friends Change,
When You Need Them The Most.
They'll Leave You In The Waves,
While They Float From A Boat.

Lifes Takin For Granted.
People Never Know What They Got,
Until Its Gone.
You Never Know When Its Your Last Chance To Make Rights,
From Your Wrongs.

When I Have No One Else,
In The Need Of Help,
I Didn't Think I Even Needed To Ask Twice.

Now I Can't Look At The Only Soul I Thought I Could Depend On
When Times Are Tough.
In His Eyes Without A Hollow Bitter Feeling Of Distrust In My Gut.

I Regret Times I Never Picked Up The Phone
Too Selfish To Chat Because I Don't Feel Like It.
Never Thinking About,
Anytime Could Be The Last Time We Could Say Hi Or Goodbye.
And You End Up Being The Guy To Write This.

Nothings Guaranteed In Life But Death.
Live Every Second Like Its Your Last One Left.
