Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii Poem by Rasma Haidri

Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii

In the dolphin waters

waves pull

then toss us

gently back

the way we

as new parents

rolled

our giggle-girl

in a blanket

held firmly

by four corners.

In the dolphin waters

my child swims

alone

for the first time

shouting Look!

No legs!

No arms!

No head!

losing

the boundary

between herself

and ocean.

In the dolphin waters

I am dipped

in the texture

of magic

so all my poetry

flows

and I remember

there was nothing

I needed to say.
