Sardarji
A lawyer, an editor, a columnist,
A novelist, a short story writer,
Above all, a journo, a politico.
To pay tribute to him
Is to pull out a book from the stand,
The stall,
Train to Pakistan, In The Company of Women.
Read the novel and take you at the roadside dhaba
Tadaka, tandoori and chutney,
Take you the mazaa of litti and paani.
To stoke controversy was his nature, to remain in light,
A master writer of Hindustani pidgin English,
A Partition writer
Though not a direct politician, but knew it politics,
The politics of being in the limelight.
