King Poem by Huseyin Abudharr Ali Diakides

King

Greetings, I just wanted to say a few words,

Before you pass into memory, space and time.

The King of Tottenham whose love was his crown

And the respect you got from the hood it would shine.

Never did you let me down, you'd support me,

Through every one of my missions and my schemes.

You had enough love for anyone in the hood,

From MP's to activists and businessmen to fiends.

King of Tottenham that is your title,

Because when you'd walk the streets you were respected as such

And although outside the hood you were barely known

Yet when it came to the hood no one did as much.

Now you may have just become another statistic

Of a time that has taken so many poor souls

Across the World in every faraway land

But in Tottenham you are a King on the roads.

What you asked for was neither ego nor wealth,

For years I tried to find out what was your angle,

See I've grown up around activists and saw their intentions

But in that darkness of ulterior motives you were a candle.

You were my friend, mentor and were like an uncle,

Someone I trusted completely which is such a rare thing

And when I'd speak to others I'd hear the same sentiments,

That's why to me you will always be a King!
