King James And Uncle Sam Poem by Jon M. Nelson

King James And Uncle Sam

I keep King James in a drawer by my bed,
And I say a prayer before resting my head.
I serve Uncle Sam proudly every day,
As I help protect the American way.

I try to hang on to every word,
As they preach what should be heard.
If they give the orders I will follow,
Even when my pride I have to swallow.

I read the book to do what is right,
So I am able to head towards the light.
I do their work without question,
And I will serve without hesitation.

I'm always informed of what to do,
As they will always guide me through.
As they lead, I will proudly serve,
And I'll stand with a steady nerve.

As I march along in their footsteps,
I have come to learn to accept,
I'm going down the correct road,
Even as I carry this heavy load.
