Knitting Poem by Abdul Wahab

Knitting

On the canvas, I just throw an idea
From my mind of a butterfly and
Let's see keenly which way it goes
Neither left nor right nor straight
The name of the path zigzag it takes;

Flaps its wings with a sound sweet
Sits here and there, takes an idle rest
But no longer time it stays in a place
So, I welcome it today to be my guest

It comes with a bang and loudly calls
My name to come between the lines
From the edge of my page, I peep
With a lovely glow and lustre, it shines.

I move my fingers to hold an ink pen
And leave some marks on the white
But it says if I bring some metaphors
The picture I draw will be more right.

I spread my mind and get some
And with them in a pair I compare
The legs of a butterfly and the web
With my poems to knit in wonder.
